Car rivalry culture - why do people hate Lamborghinis?

I've wondered this ever since I started liking exotic cars. I've seen so many articles and other places on the internet where people talk about Lamborghini like it's the poor man's vehicle. Talking about its "poor quality, slow speeds" and such. And I've heard Ferrari reps referring to their "VIvalued customer" program say things like "I know people who could buy our cars don't like our policies. I can sympathize but they may end up in a Lamborghini" talking about it like it's a consolation prize. As it stands Lamborghinis are still better cars than what 99% of the population is driving. I am fond of the cars so I suppose I fit under the category of "stupid lambo fanboy" as so many of the haters call them. I personally choose my favorite sports cars by individual car rather than brand, so as it stands I like lambos, ferarris, maseratis, or anything else I find appealing, but I've never understood this idiotic concept of "brand rivalries" among car fans. (among rednecks, a "ford vs. chevrolet vs. Dodge trucks" is a similar situation.) What's the point here?
