Eddie Murphy-will he get an oscar?

I know a lot of people have seen Dreamgirls and marveled at what appears to be the comeback of eddie murphy. What i want to know is will this make him a shoe in at the oscars for supporting actor because he is already a contender and should he do films of a more serious matter to gain credibility the same way Tom Hanks, Val Kilmer and others that started off in comedy films did?
